A couple of male king penguins face the sunlight, as another incubates an egg in their enclosure in the Berlin zoo. The same-sex couple were handed an abandoned egg by their zookeepers, the two followed their instinct and started incubating it. According to zoo spokesperson the couple is known to have tried to hatch stones in their enclosure in the past. In nature the male King Penguin shares an equal part in taking care of the hatchlings and the eggs for weeks and sometime months while the female travels long distances in search of food.
