1A man buys charcoal from a vendor in the market in Gulu. In Nwoya, Okello warns that if the current rate of deforestation continues, the district could lose 1,000 acres in a year. ‘In the next five years, we shall have a desert,’ he says. ‘Because our own water sources will dry up, all the wetlands will drain and dry off. The whole watershed is affected’.
